Welcome to Real Design Blog.

Having dual American/British citizenship and having travelled to 5 continents (lived on 3), Caelan spent his childhood observing and exploring other cultures and environments. As a child he enjoyed learning about the languages, customs, behaviors, etiquette, art, music and architecture unique to each location. These experiences have spurred Caelan’s interest in urban design, and how people interact with the built environment. In particular he is interested in the impact of gentrification, and how to revitalize a neighborhood while retaining its unique history, culture and community. Additionally he’s interested in foreign investment in real estate, and any impact that has on the design process.

Caelan created this blog as a platform to combine his interests in global business, investment, real estate, architecture and urban design. His goal is to create a platform to educate, investigate and explore how these concepts are interwoven.

Beyond this Blog...

Caelan is engaged with:

Real Estate, Urban Design and Architecture Instagram Page: Caelan created a page to capture how these topics are connected. The Instagram page ties to his blog while highlighting his personal travels and interest in design.

Simulated Investment Club: Having relocated from Texas to Washington DC six months before COVID shutdowns commenced, Caelan created a virtual investment club as a way for him to explore his interest in the stock market. This grew into a competition within his extended family, covering the Midwest, California, and England.

In addition to blogging, Caelan is an avid swimmer, swimming competitively with his club team’s national training group, and for his high school. He is also the Treasurer of his high school Chinese Honor Society. From May to September Caelan’s second home is his neighborhood pool, where he competes on their summer league swim team, and works as a lifeguard.
